Tolgee is our very own translation tool! Learn how to use it to create various resources in your language by reading this page.
Create your account
Create an account to start translating and reviewing translations.
To access Tolgee, you must have been invited by email after applying to join the translation team through this form.
Click on the link contained on the email: you should arrive on a login page. Click on “Sign up” to create your account.
Create your account with the email address to which the invitation link was sent.
You should arrive on your Tolgee dashboard. You can see the projects you have been invited in.
Find your language
The dashboard displays all existing languages: you can find yours by looking over the list, or by using CTRL+F to search it. Click on its name and the translation board will open.
Translate
Click on the project you’d like to work on (Cards, Aktivisda, …) from your dashboard. Then, you can click on the translation icon, on the left sidebar. You can choose the language you want to see with the dropdown menu on the right.
You can edit directly by clicking on the translated text. Then, save your changes with the “Save” button.
You can only translate in the language(s) you have the authorisation for. If you cannot click and edit and think it’s a mistake, please contact the Association so that we can edit your account access rights.
If necessary, you can use the comments section to leave indications or question for your fellow translators.
Review others' translations
Once you have checked and updated a translation, you can change its status to “Reviewed” to inform others that the translation is now certified correct.
Tolgee is designed to enhance collaboration between several translators, in order to ensure that the finalised version is as close to perfect as possible! That’s why we recommend having at least one person translating and another person reviewing: proofreading with fresh eyes helps identifying even the smallest mistakes!
Click on the check mark button to indicate you have translated and/or reviewed the lign. You can also use the shortcut
CTRL+E
If you do not see this symbol on your translation board, it means you’ve not been granted the right to review existing translation. Contact the NGO to modify this if needed.
Tips : You can tick several lines and use the menu at the bottom to do the same action on all of them stimultaneously, making it easier to validate translations.
See the comments & translation history
For each line, you can use the “History” tab to see the changes that had been done on this block of text.
You can also use the Comments tabs to discuss with your peers if you have uncertainties or to explain your choices.
